Irma wanted a new kitchen that she could "...clean with a leaf blower". The result is a new modern kitchen that compliments their traditional home in historic Irvington.

The original arched opening between the kitchen and dining room was broadened for both symmetry and to make way for a peninsula where the family could gather.

Custom cabinets optimized storage in the kitchen. Full-height cabinets that surround the refrigerator allowed the rest of the kitchen to go without upper cabinets, which makes the kitchen feel more open and airy.

A bank of full-height cabinets is a storage workhorse for both dry goods and dishes. The high cabinets house lesser-used kitchen items.

A bank of lower cabinets without uppers highlights the original window and makes a light-filled work surface and sink area.

Tucked into the end of the tall cabinets (which is near the family entry), a 'command center' makes it easy to keep the family clutter off the kitchen counters.

The 'command center' is the perfect out-of-the-way place to drop keys, mail, school papers, and to charge phones. It houses all the non-kitchen things we like to keep in the kitchen.
